Edith Rockholes

Edith Rockholes est un temps du rêve associé à Ngurrpapulangu, un point d’eau situé à l’ouest de la communauté du Kintore. Cette région abrite une histoire ancestrale (ou mythologique). C’est un temps du rêve qui raconte l’histoire d’un groupe d’hommes Tingari qui campèrent lors de leur voyage vers l’Ouest. Ils sont probablement passés par Umari et Wala Wala. Ces événements associés à ce cycle Tingari ne sont pas dévoilés aux profanes.

Edith Jackson Nampitjinpa is a Pintupi artist who lives in Kiwirrkura, Western Australia. She paints women’s ceremony and Tingari for her country using intensely dotted surfaces in ochre-inspired palettes, often with the concentric square form as a dominant motif. She paints Ngurrapulangu, a clay-pan site, west of the Kintore Community, where in mythological times a group of Tingari men camped as they travelled west, eventually passing through Umari and Wala Wala. Since events associated with the Tingari Cycle are of a secret nature.
