Ngoia Pollard Napaltjarri

Ngoia Pollard Napaltjarri est née en 1948 à Haasts Bluff en Australie (territoires du Nord). Elle était mariée à Jack Tjampitjinpa (aujourd’hui disparu), un artiste qui a travaillé pour la Papunya Tula Artists. Ngoia a assisté son mari durant de nombreuses années Ils ont eu cinq enfants. Cette formidable artiste de caractère a commencé à peindre en 1997. Elle est devenue une artiste renommée, primée dès 2004. Elle a remporté le Prix « National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards » en 2006. Son travail est exposé dans de nombreuses collections publiques incluant la « National Gallery of Australia ».

Bon nombre des œuvres de Ngoia évoquent sa région de Yamunturrngu ou le Mont Liebig à l’est de Haasts bluff, la région de son père.

Ngoia Pollard married Jack Tjampitjinpa, who became an artist working with the Papunya Tula company, and they had five children. Having commenced painting in 1997, Ngoia Pollard won a major regional art prize in 2004. She went on to win the painting prize in the 2006 National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards. Her works are held in major private and public collections, including the National Gallery of Australia. Western Desert artists such as Ngoia Pollard frequently paint particular ‘dreamings’, or stories, for which they have personal responsibility or rights. Many of Ngoia’s works relate to the region of Yamunturrngu, or Mount Liebig, in the country to the west of Haasts Bluff; this is her father’s country.
