Joy Purvis Pitjara Petyarre
Cette talentueuse artiste est née en 1962 à Boundry Bore (station Utopia) au nord est d’Alice Springs. Elle est la fille de Glory Nglae. Elle fait partie de la grande communauté talentueuse de femmes artistes. Sa soeur est Anna Price Pitjara / Petyarre.
Joy a de nombreuses années d’expérience dans la peinture, le soin extrême qu’elle porte à sa création est la fierté de ses œuvres. Ses peintures capturent la sensibilité de sa culture sur la toile. Dans les années 1970, lorsque Utopia était fortement impliquée dans les projets batik, Joy n’était qu’une jeune enfant. Sa mère était impliquée dans ces projets et Joy était entourée de tous les artistes qui produisaient des œuvres d’art en utilisant ces méthodes nouvelles et intéressantes de représentation d’histoires Dreaming traditionnelles. Joy a commencé à peindre de façon indépendante dans les années 1980 à l’adolescence et a commencé à peindre le Bush Yam avec ses semences et son système racinaire. Ces rêves proviennent du pays de son père et de son grand-père, aux environs de Boundary Bore, dans la région d’Utopia. En tant que mère, grand-mère, tante et femme à Anmatyerre, Joy est très occupée à remplir ses obligations culturelles et familiales et passe donc son temps à Utopia et à Alice Springs

Family History: Joy was born in 1962 Boundry Bore, Utopia Station, North East of Alice Springs and is the daughter of Glory Ngale. She comes from a large language group of extremely talented and strong female artists. Her sister is Anna Price Pitjara
Painting: Joy has had many years of experience painting and taking the utmost care and pride in her artworks. Her paintings capture the sensitivity of her culture on the canvas.
In the 1970’s when Utopia was heavily involved in Batik projects Joy was just a young child. Her mother was involved in these projects and Joy was surrounded by all of the artists producing artworks using these new and interesting methods of depicting traditional Dreaming stories. Joy began painting independently in the 1980’s as an adolescent and started painting the Bush Yam with its seeds and root systems. These Dreamings are from her father and grandfathers country around Boundary Bore in the Utopia region.
As a mother, grandmother, aunty and Anmatyerre woman Joy is very busy fulfilling her cultural and familial obligations and thus spends her time in both Utopia and Alice Springs.
