Seed Bush

Seed Bush : Philippa peint les histoires héritées de sa défunte mère ainsi que celles de la famille de son père. Le thème le plus commun dans ses oeuvres est lié au « Rêve » des sept sœurs (en référence à la constellation des Pléiades). Ses oeuvres sont aussi des cartes topographiques de sa région « Balgo » où jour après jour les hommes et les femmes chassent et ramassent les fruits du désert. D’autres thèmes décrivent le relief du paysage, dunes de sable, trous d’eau plus communément appelés « Tjurnnu ».

Philippa paints the stories handed to her from both her Mother and Father’s families, the most common theme in her works is the ‘Seven Sisters Dreaming’ her paintings also centre on the topography of the country around Balgo and the day to day chores of hunting and gathering bush foods. Other themes that she follows are depicting the topography of the landscape, the endless sand hills, salt lakes and water soaks referred to as ‘Tjurnnu »
