Genevieve Loy Kemarre

Geneviève Loy Kemarre est née à Alice Springs en 1982. Sa mère est Carol Kunoth Kngwarreye. Son père, Loy Pwerl, est un artiste très connu de la région d’Utopia. Bon nombre des membres de la famille de Genevieve sont des artistes reconnus à Utopia et ils ont tous eu une influence importante sur ses créations.

Genevieve peint les rêves hérités de son père, notamment les « Fruits du désert », rêves et région qui sont à la frontière Ouest de la rivière Sandover dans la région d’Utopia. Cette histoire est généralement dansée et chantée durant les cérémonies. L’histoire relate la collecte des fruits et des graines et retrace le parcours pour attendre les points d’eau. Ses oeuvres montrent les traces que laissent les animaux lorsqu’ils traversent le paysage et les petits points montrent les graines qu’ils mangent.

Historical: Genevieve was born in Alice Springs 1982 to her mother Carol Kunoth Kngwarreye and Cowboy Loy Pwerl who is a well – known artist from Utopia. Many of Genevieve’s family members are artists and they have all had an influence on her work.

Painting: Genevieve paints her Father’s Bush Turkey Dreaming and Country which lies to the west of the Sandover River on Utopia Station. This story is significant in the Dream Time and is often sung and danced at ceremonial times. The story relates to the Bush Turkey searching for seeds and finding its way to the water hole to drink, the paintings show the tracks the Turkey is making and the fine dotting show the seed that are eaten.
